Thank you for coming to Darkwood Armory's website. We build some of the most durable theatrical,  SCA*, and WMA** reproduction rapiers and swords in the United States, and we can ship all over the world. They are designed for use as practice weapons, not just for wallhangers! We also carry many accoutrements to make your practice safer and more authentic.

Darkwood Armory will have to start charging an extra $20 to meet SCA requirements for dagger blades. Also we will make these blades as custom with No Warranty. See below to understand why:

The wideflex dagger blade has been manufactured by Darkwood Armory since the turn of the century. We have had very few issues and are always glad to warranty our work. While trying to meet he new SCA regulations for flexibility we have increased our costs through: 

  • Extra Time- there is more material to remove, and it must be removed more slowly to prevent overheating.
  • Losses- Should a blade be overheated and the temper compromised, that blade is discarded. This results in the lost time to grind to that point, the lost time to produce the blank, the lost material of the blank and the extra material that already gets discarded when the blank is cut.
  • Returns- We warranty a blade against defects of workmanship and materials, thus blades that have bent after a small amount of use are replaced. This costs us in many ways, blade cost, shipping and loss of reputation. 

The dimensions of a blade made to flex and the current standards are such that any aggressive hit can do permanent damage to a blade. As such, we are replacing blades that have failed where there is no sign of inferior workmanship or material defects. 

So from here forward Darkwood will be making blades to our original standard that was found to be safe and durable for over a decade.

We will continue to warranty our blades that we have already sold, But will no longer warranty any blade guaranteed to pass SCA rules.
