These 41.5 - 42" blades were created to offer the practitioner a blade that handles as close to a real rapier as it can and still be inexpensive. They are modeled on historical rapier foils from the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Royal Armouries. They don't have the blade-like look of our other blades, but they perform very well, being balanced, lighter in the tip (thus quick), and very stiff. The new design makes them thicker through the length of the blade - the blade cross section is now rectangular rather than almost square. They are a little heavier overall.
They come in two styles, a standard Italian style with a short tang that will fit most of our hilts out there, and a Spanish style with a reduced ricasso to fit a cup hilt. Please specify which style on ordering.
The tips are buttoned and can take rubber epee tips with a little work.
